Pacific Palisades, Calif. (Friday, June 6, 2008) – The Pali Blues Soccer Club (3-0-0) headed to Colorado today for a critical two-game set over the weekend. The club plays the Fort Collins Force (1-2-0) tonight before traveling to Centennial to take on the unbeaten Real Colorado Cougars (2-0-1) on Sunday afternoon.
“We are here and ready to go,” Blues head coach Charlie Naimo stated. “We are expecting a very tough match tonight followed by another great challenge on Sunday.”
Naimo then commented on what he hopes to accomplish over the next three days.
“The hope is that we have prepared properly and can come out of the weekend with six points,” he said. “It will not be easy, but I think the girls are focused. The last game against Ventura was the best soccer we’ve played, and with Kendall Fletcher back in the lineup, we are hoping to build on it this weekend.”
The Blues currently sit in first place in the Western Conference with nine points. Forwards Danesha Adams and Rosie Tantillo lead the team with six points each. Adams has both a pair of goals and assists while Tantillo has hit the back of the net three times this season. Goalkeeper Valerie Henderson has two wins in net, and Karen Bardsley has also picked a victory backstopping the club. The Blues have collectively outscored their opponents 12-1 in their first three contests.
As far as the opposition is concerned, defender Kathryn Eriksson and forward Nikki Marshall have each tallied a pair of goals for the Fort Collins Force in three contests. Goalkeeper Kara Linder is 1-2 in net for the Force with six saves on her stat sheet. Fort Collins is led by head coach Craig Deacon.
The Real Colorado Cougars are led offensively by forward Brittany MacDonald, who has three points on the season with a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Briana Schulze has a combined 2-0-1 record for the Cougars while Brian Haynes serves as the head coach of the second-year club.
The Blues return to the Stadium by the Sea on Sunday, June 15, to host the Vancouver Whitecaps. Tickets for all home match-ups for the Blues are only $10 for adults ($8 with student ID) and $5 for kids under the age of 12.
